I believe portage is a natural right and should apply in every state. Of course laws about navigation and flowing waterways are also about as clear as mud in most states. :)

I believe you need a badge from the Department of Defense to hunt there. They list the requirements on their website. In the past I hunted a closed base in East Texas with a contractor. His badge allowed me to hunt as his guest.

I could probably own a helicopter if I didn't fish and hunt! :) Regarding public land, I think an aircraft can only land on a designated runway. It's similar to how most public land requires vehicles to stay on established roads/trails.

Have you looked at New Mexico? You need to read up on the TPWD system to see how it works for the future. There also might be cheaper private land hunts in the Hill Country, but that could be more feeder hunting than spot and stalk.

When you apply in Wyoming, I believe they run the preference point draw first and then the random draw. This is only for your first choice. That means if you didn't have enough points to draw in the PP draw, you have another chance for the tags allocated to the random pool. You cannot pick to...

I will say the hardest part of killing a pronghorn on public land is drawing the tag. With 3 points, you're most likely going to have to hope for a random tag in the units that have a decent amount of public land. Paying the Special fee might help your odds a little bit.

I thought they only contacted the next applicant in line for the tags that took a certain number of points to draw. This hunt went to the second draw.

I replied to the email and it's legit. They replied with: Hi Jason - Unfortunately our system does not take into account which other licenses you currently hold or your choice order when the data is pulled that you applied for that hunt code, just that you were next in the draw order/reissue...

I think this is a scam. I didn't apply for this tag first choice and it's also a tag that would go directly for sale and not to the next person in the draw order.

From what I've read, it seems like the organizations against EPLUS are claiming all those landowner tags will go back into the public draw if EPLUS is eliminated. I don't believe that is true. I don't have much of an opinion on the issue because I don't purchase landowner tags and only hunt elk...

If EPLUS was eliminated, I wonder if it would increase the number of tags available in the draw. I also don't believe NRs are the ones complaining about EPLUS. It seems like NRs benefit from EPLUS way more than NM residents.

I applied. I figured being a non-hunter female sea urchin that fears water makes me plenty "diverse" A CPW commissioner's dream come true! :)

I've emailed NM and they told me when the quota was filled for the previous season. I also try to save the harvest update sheet at the end of every year.

I use a Skinner receiver sight on mine. I prefer receiver mounted apertures when I'm shooting iron sights. Williams aren't too expensive.

My brother and I drew in the secondary draw in 2021. We were the only 2 that applied for the tags. We've drawn our 2-4th choices in the primary draw too.

The special fee didn't buy much better odds for general tags.
