    Rio Grande Del Norte Bighorn

Thanks for posting the picture! I am still smiling! Hardest part about the hunt was putting up with old age reality, you get bum knees or damaged foot problems as you get older. The climb down in the Canyon or back out points out these ailments. But as Derek said, it wouldn't be a sheep...

    Rio Grande Del Norte Bighorn

Thank you everyone! He is an awesome headbangin Ram. I was truly blessed to find him, get in and out before the weather went south! And climbing all the way down to the river to get him out was a sight I will always remember. Just as pretty from the bottom looking up as it is from the top...

    Almost ibex time!

I live here in Deming. Shot lots of the goats when you could get a trophy tag by shooting 2 young Billy?s or nannies. Look for a billy with 4 knobs on top edge of horns. He will be a trophy!

    Rio Grande Del Norte Ram

I finally got to fill my tag last Wednesday morning at 7:00 am thanks to South Peak Outfitter owner Derek Harris. I can't say enough nice things about this young man. First Class hunter - patience of Job, eternal optimism, skilled professional, unending energy. He enabled this old man to shoot...

    Rio Grande Gorge Sheep!

Feel the same way.... I drew a tag for the same hunt this year after putting in for a Rocky Mtn sheep tag for 35 years! I hear this Gorge is the best place to get one. Have you ever scouted this area?

    Rio Grande Gorge Sheep!

I am in fair shape, I will be better... I have a son (45) who will help. My first sheep tag was in 1972, hunted the north rim (Kanab) of the Grand Canyon. But I was 25 and that was 46 years ago! Found sheep but weather ran us out! No tamale. Put in for 22 more years and drew another Arizona...

Finished NM Rocky Mountain Bighorn Ram Mount

Enjoyed your story and picture from your hunt last year in the Gorge. What a beautiful lifesize mount. I drew the same hunt for this (2018)year. Can't believe it, been putting in for 35 years and now I draw a tag and I am 71 years old! You said if you had it to do over again you wouldn't...

    Utah Monroe Mt. Archery Elk

You have hit the jackpot my friend. Monroe is an excellent unit and a very beautiful mountain. There is a ton of atv trails all over the mountain so getting around is real easy. There is a lot of good areas to hunt though so come a week early and enjoy the scouting.

    UT Limited Entry Draw Results

I also drew a southern muzzy tag and am stoked about it. But I also got a big UNSUCCESSFUL on LE elk. I guess 10 points wasn't enough and from what it sounds like in a few more years when I do have enough points to draw all the big bulls will pretty much be gone. You just cant win.

    26" buck possible in Nevada?

Settle down guys. I'm just trying to give the guy a little heads up on the unit without spilling the beans for everyone on the web to see. Cass- I don't know what you consider to be a lot of bucks, but I only see a handful at a time out in that country. I do spend a lot of time in and...

    1X muzzy scope?

Fire_Hawk thanks for the update. I have yet to purchase a scope for the muzzleloader but I have checked out a few. The Burris seemed like a good one, nice and clear. Just wondering why your selling it? Anything about it you didn't like. I just wish I could find one with something larger...

    26" buck possible in Nevada?

Here's the skinny on that unit, odds of drawing: slim to none, odds of finding any type of deer without a guide or major scouting time: slim to none, odds of it being a shooter if you do find it: good. This unit holds some great deer but extrermemly few deer overall. You would have to spent...

    Colorado or Idaho hunt

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've been looking at Unit 43 for the third season and possibly going for a combo hunt. I would probably try to find someone with horses to rent or pack us into some of the wilderness areas. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Otter Creek

We fished it last spring and did ok. The fish tasted like mud though so you might as well let em all go. The water levels were way down by late fall, the whole southern end was covered in moss. It used to be a really good ice fishing hole but I haven't done any ice fishing there in a few...

Take this job and SHOVE IT!

I work for a high end custom mill. We specialize in the tricky stuff that nobody else wants to or can do. Most of our work goes into multi million dollar homes in Las Vegas. It started out as a decent job to get me through school but eight years later here I still am. It has some good points...

There is a Molly's nipple on top of Hurricane mesa in Southern Utah. Hurricane is about 15 miles northeast of St. George and 50 or so miles southwestish from Kanab.

    Colorado or Idaho hunt

Thanks elk_horn! I'll have to spend some time researching the G&F websites. I was leaning towards Colorado because of their numbers of animals but my father-in-law wanted to go to Idaho because he used to live and hunt there. Were just looking for an opportunity to hunt an OTC area that has...

    Are Swarovski's worth the price?

I guarantee you will not be sorry for spending the extra $$$. Just think of it this way, they will last you the rest of your life and possibly your sons or whoever you pass them on to when you die. They are a good investment IMO.

    Colorado or Idaho hunt

Fellers I need some advise. I badly want to hunt elk in either Colorado or Idaho this fall but have never hunted in either state before. Just looking for some direction as to what units to research. I'm not looking for a trophy bull but any unit with possibly good odds of harvesting an...

    favorite hunting/fishing spot?

I'm with you BFE the Boulder Mountains are awesome for big football shaped brookies. As for hunting, Fishlake National Forest because that is where my dad and grandpa first took me hunting and where I became hopelessly addicted to it.

How come utah tags are so expensive????

I figure $40 and $65 to have that much fun and make that many memories is darn cheap. Heck you can't even take the family out to dinner or a movie for that price. A tank of gas is at least $50 bucks. At least its not on a supply and demand price range or we would be paying a lot more...
