I live here in Deming. Shot lots of the goats when you could get a trophy tag by shooting 2 young Billy?s or nannies. Look for a billy with 4 knobs on top edge of horns. He will be a trophy!

Feel the same way.... I drew a tag for the same hunt this year after putting in for a Rocky Mtn sheep tag for 35 years! I hear this Gorge is the best place to get one. Have you ever scouted this area?

You have hit the jackpot my friend. Monroe is an excellent unit and a very beautiful mountain. There is a ton of atv trails all over the mountain so getting around is real easy. There is a lot of good areas to hunt though so come a week early and enjoy the scouting.

I also drew a southern muzzy tag and am stoked about it. But I also got a big UNSUCCESSFUL on LE elk. I guess 10 points wasn't enough and from what it sounds like in a few more years when I do have enough points to draw all the big bulls will pretty much be gone. You just cant win.

I guarantee you will not be sorry for spending the extra $$$. Just think of it this way, they will last you the rest of your life and possibly your sons or whoever you pass them on to when you die. They are a good investment IMO.

I'm with you BFE the Boulder Mountains are awesome for big football shaped brookies. As for hunting, Fishlake National Forest because that is where my dad and grandpa first took me hunting and where I became hopelessly addicted to it.

I figure $40 and $65 to have that much fun and make that many memories is darn cheap. Heck you can't even take the family out to dinner or a movie for that price. A tank of gas is at least $50 bucks. At least its not on a supply and demand price range or we would be paying a lot more...
