Conne River Outfitters and they did a great job. Nice lodge, excellent guides, and good equipment. Great attitude as well, they want you to have a great hunt. Good food as well. They have a grand piece of Newfoundland. Hard working, fun folks.

It was so fun! Lots of game, wild country, awesome people and great accommodations. One day of rain but we still saw game. Bring tall rubber boots as most steps are soggy. Saw bigger bulls but it just didn't work out. Saw smaller bulls and passed. Caribou as well.

Take a look at the Nikon Monarch 7 glass. One can do worse.

If you decide to go 300 WSM it is excellent elk medicine. Use a well constructed bullet like a 180 grain Nosler partition and know your gun and your capabilities and the elk will die.

Got a .300WSM in 2002 in a model 70 classic featherweight and it my favorite rifle for critters. One shot kills on bull elk and bucks of both species. Potent but relatively gentle on the shoulder would be my call.

257 Roberts is a fine choice. 117gr or 120gr will work well and fun to shoot as well.

Both hunts are thrilling and challenging in their own way. Archery the bulls are looking for you (if you're calling) or water. Rifle you are looking for them and they're not as vocal and may be fuzzed up by others. Either way it's huntin' for a bull elk!
