December was a record month with 19 ft. of snow. January was a record dry month with no new snow. Right now we have blizzard white-out conditions. We can expect at least 2 ft. from this 4 day storm. Time to get the snowmobiles ready again.

3 Points should get ya a X9-A tag. At least my father & son are hoping 3 with be enough. The zone has been a little fickle these last 5 years. Last year seems to be a decent season with several nice bucks taken. But in 08 & 09, there were plenty of hunters eating their tags.

Most have also heard, but the 3 hunters were sentanced in Federal Court. Around $53,000.00 in fines, 60 days in Mono county jail, and 5 year nation wide hunting ban. Ouch!!

In regards to the Road kill aspect of the herds, I have to admit it's a problem. In the last 2 weeks 27 deer have been splattered on Hwy 395. Thats just from Tom's Place to Mammoth, which is a 20 mile portion. 3 deer just this morning.

I picked up my tags in Bishop on Weds. Downloaded the booklet & printed the on-line apps so eveything went out in the mail on Friday. Hope they make it to DFG by June 2nd.

I've used a combo of the Montana decoy & cow scent during archery season. Works great! We've had cows & bull both come in on a run. Last years bull locked on to the decoy @ 100 yds & went nuts for about 5 minutes before jumping a fence & galloping in to range.

Yep, It finally stopped snowing this morning. But it's cold like a winter day. Judging from all the empty campgrounds, I think all the fishermen left the area a day after the opener.

Checked on-line yesterday, the 2009-2010 seasons are now available. No big changes besides the added Tule Elk hunts in the Owens Valley & the Deer tags in my area were decreased again. Troy
