great unit, you will be in elk if you scout and put some boot leather down, there are some great bulls to be had. they should still be bugling at that time. I hunt the northern part of the unit. let us know how your scouting and pre season efforts go.

don't waste that tag. youtube does not do that rock justice. go there. hike it. watch the goats. humble yourself on the rock before it humbles you on the hunt.

the above posts are why i am fond of 16E, there are great bulls and it is pretty much impossible to road hunt. if thats what you want to do apply for 15 or 16C. 16E is going to require some work.

i dont have a tag for that specific unit damn it but i am getting good reports of some big boys hitting the dirt in my unit

glassed up a pretty nice bull this last weekend while out deer hunting. what do you guys think he scores? unfortunately i didnt get good pictures of his RIDICULOUS thirds, but they are LONG and wide, also sorry for the crappy pics. was taken via cell phone camera through dirty 15s.

Found the bull i want this year... symmetrical/typical bulls are nice and all but i like the freaks! added are some pics from this memorial day in the Gila.. and my pup going straight to the ice chest to guard it when the coyotes started howling... good boy...

i agree with you that it would be wierd to do a shoulder mount on an animal that you didnt kill, but at 200+.... i say do it

i took this approach this year! i put in for great hunts knowing i wouldnt draw them since i will be out of NM almost more than in, guess what. 100% draw rate... still extatic about it, its just going to be a crazy busy year

good question! went out this weekend and found a good number of last years sheds but no freshies. saw a bunch of elk, but while hiking back in the canyons i saw 3 elk together, one was a 4x4, one was a spike, and the other didnt have antlers, but being this time of year and that they were...
