Friends and I have hunted 61-6 the past two years. This year we noticed the guys hunting 62 seemed to be doing really well. We even heard some talking about the Antler Ranch. Does anyone have any info on their cow elk hunt program or any input on unit 62 in general? Thanks!

A sad day for sure. Our deer are hurting big time and wolves will decimate them. Not enough elk in CA to feed them anyway. Wait until they start munching on the tule elk. We are the only place in the world they live.

Hunted Wy the first time this year. Every Warden we talked to and one turned us onto a ranch that was letting hunters deer hunt on. Great experience and great folks.

Was watching Lee and Tiffany bowhunt Utah last night on TV. They were hunting out of groud blinds and I noticed on one camera angle that there were little piles of yellow stuff all over the ground where the deer were. Is putting out bait or attractants legal there?

Well we got our tags for 61. Looking forward to it. Talking about the the first part of November. We got some deer tags in a nearby unit so the meat wagon will hopefully be full! Would it be worth getting a wolf tag? Willing to help with that issue.

Sounds like my friend wants to look at the Cody area. Possibly unit 61. Looking at maybe even some doe tags since they are so cheap.

A couple of friends and I are looking at possibly going to Wyoming this year on a leftover cow tag hunt. Pretty much just looking to get some meat since all of our other options didn't pan out. Can this be a good hunt? One of my friends has never killed an elk. Thanks!

I thought Idaho had a 10% tag quota. I looked at the 2012 drawing stats for Elk and saw that some hunts didn't draw any tags for nonresidents and some were way below 10%. One hunt I was interested in had 400 tags and gave 0 for nonresidents! There were nonresidents that applied. Something smelly...

Congrats on your bull! As far as the blisters go, I read an article by Cameron Haines this summer and he said as he gets near hunting season he starts running without socks on. He went on to say that ever since he started doing that, he has never gotten a blister while hunting.

Was thinking of taking my soon to be 12 year old on an elk hunt. I hunted on an Indian reservation in Utah a couple of years ago and felt it was a good hunt. Tag/Guide/place to stay/food for $1k. Anyone have any other suggestions for a hunt like this?

Three friends and I put in for 100 and GEN as second. I have 2 pts., one friend has 1 and the other two have 0. Not getting hopes up but would like to at least get a GEN tag. If not, then I'll go antelope hunting.

My friends and I are going to apply for elk in Wyoming this year. One friend wants to hunt deer and elk. Are there any unit combinations that would allow someone to hunt both deer and elk at the same time. This would be rifle hunting.

Just look at Idaho. Since they raised their nonresident fees two years ago, they have not sold all their nonresident elk tags. They have lost money. I know one of my partners was really wanting to hunt Montana but he said no way now. Too expensive.

Hunted this unit 3 years. Took last year off due to the non-res fees going up. How is the hunt this year?

I see that but it looks like most of those tags are in areas that are mostly private lands.

I was toying with going to Wyoming on an antelope hunt, doe at this point. I am having a hard time figuring out the tags. Are the only doe tags available the left over tags? Looking at Non-res tags. thanks!

Bet the resident tags didn't go up! Idaho has a noted drop in income this year and did not sell out on elk tags for NR this year because of fee increases this year.

Sitting here reminiscing on the past three years in Unit 39. Chose not to go this year. Anybody hearing about how the hunting is going? I would think that with the early storms this year the elk would be down.

I've got the 16X14 tent from Davis. Great folks to work with and I've used the tent for three seasons now. Love it. Thinking of getting a smaller one now to use for regular family camping.

Nice bull and way to put it all together. I too have a scar on my leg from dressing out an animal, except mine came from kneeling down on my knife in thick grass as I repositioned the animal to finish dressing it out. Thank God I had a friend with me. I would have had to leave that critter out...
