Good for you, Porkchop! I have been told over and over again, "you'll never shoot a big deer if you shoot a small one!" Having said that, I'd shoot him in a heartbeat...but I've killed a bunch of small ones.

What elevations do you typically find the bucks during the 2nd season in the units with high country? Of course I know that they are where you find them, and that some will always be down low, and that it is very weather dependent...but I'm wondering specifically about above timberline bucks...

On the late cow hunt in Unit 34 (December 4), I saw a nice buck with some does doing the infamous "lip curl".

Yep...undersubscribed...my brain was hurting from work all day. And if you are right about the resident pool, it hurts that much more.

Here's my question that I can't find in the new regs...what happens to the 10% for guided tags in units that are under proscribed (where not all of the 10% are used up)? Do those extra tags go to Non-Guided NR, or do they now go to the resident pool?

There are old water tanks scattered all over unit 34. I'm talking about big tanks...8 feet tall and probably 20 feet in diameter. You can see a lot of them in the satellite images. Some of them have water catchment systems (like a big funnel on top), and some appear to be supplied by pipes...

I'm with Don P...I always pack 4 liters/day for myself (hunting in southern NM). I usually drink 3 liters per day, which leaves an extra 1 liter for cooking. It may be a little much, but I've been stuck without it before...
