This Commissioner will never advocate for a point system in Idaho. I'll die on that hill.
The legislature is another matter. Makes you rethink the end around the commission for a chintzy piece of lighted plastic?
The beauty of a random draw.
Idaho will not have a points system on my watch. We have all of the surrounding states to thank for their shining examples. A ponzi scheme of a growing pool of applicants and a finite resource is fools gold leading to not being able to get out from under a disaster...
Ridge - Impressive portfolio of bucks. You are doing more things right than wrong.
This site continually makes me confused. I don't know whether to post up pics of bucks killed or tags cut up?? Seems neither are correct.
Here's to enjoying what's good about deer hunting and trying to figure out...
I drew 2 second tags in the same year. Unit 67 late buck tag and unit 50 bull tag. The lady at IDFG said I don't know if this is for real, but you better come get them now! That was a real fun hunting season.
I agree with Grizz. These are the 3 most vocal gtoups.Others seem to be waiting and watching. The time is past to just watch things go by. It will be a very interesting political season both nationally and statewide!
I couldn't figure how to link this here to MM, but take a look at the post on Idaho Deer Alliance Facebook page. It gives some detail and insight to the current status of HB 32.
Slippery slope of politicians ramrodding the comission. Contact these committee members. I only received one reply...
House bill 32 as it is currently written is one that I support. It is time for a license/tag fee increase. For the opportunities that exist to hunt and fish in this state at such a low rate is an absolute bargain. The residents have not had a fee increase since 2006. I also support the Price...
Definitely not a range gun! Mine likes 180 grain Partitions with RL 25 powder. I have to use a Lead Sled to tolerate it at the range cause it just kicks my trash.
if your looking to get one balance the recoil with the ballistics. Somethings going to give.
Thanks for the info and the insight that type 2 is an either sex hunt. I was blind to the any antelope verbage. I have looked through the draw odds and harvest for the last 3 years. They killed a lot of goats off that unit last year. Even with a reduction in tags we should still be able to draw...
Topgun - would the type 2 tag be worth putting in for to hunt 1 or 2 does and possibly draw a buck tag as well? The regs state within a 1/2 mile of irrigated land. Do the private landowners welcome hunters because of the past depredation?
It looked like a unit where I could take my dad and have...
Thanks for the replies and honest info. My preference would be to have a glassing situation versus still hunting through thick timber. I couldn't locate the data, but what age class are both units managed for?
I am a non resident with enough points to have a possibility of drawing the following hunts:
Dutton Late
Plateau,Boulder Late
Dutton Muzzleloader
Which hunt would you choose and why. Or at this point would you hold out for several more years at maybe a chance to hunt Beaver, Boulder or...
Wonder how the deer and elk like that kinda browse? Would be funny to see bucks/bulls in the rut munching on "weed"!
Has anyone ever encountered a "grow" while hunting?
Do you really think that the IDFG's thinking was to limit where you can or can't take your gun? That was not their intent. You could still stow your gun, ride in and then hunt. This is a total smokescreen that now puts unlimited ATV hunting into all of the zones. Someone saw the loophole, sugar...
This is headed in the wrong direction. So now potentially in the once "closed" zones, we will instead have madness! Every person and their dog will be cruising on their ATV looking for deer and elk. I understand the jurisdiction argument, but throw them a bone. IDFG was helping to manage the...
According to a response email from my Senator, bill 1282 is still stuck in committee and he indicated it might not come out. However, he did vote yes for bill 1256, feeling that IDFG could use the money and that non resident license sales could not generate this kind of coin.
I will continue to...
I sent an email to congressman Simpson letting him know of my support for bighorns. Hopefully he will recognize sound science and not the money that makes peoples pockets deep.
Apparently our legislators have not heard of the disaster that has become in Utah. I have emailed my reps about the 2 bills asking for a no vote. Just hold the IDFG accountable to the ability of our wildlife to generate revenue, then these non profits will not be needed.
We don't need a perfect system, just one that works. If DWR did their job then we wouldn't have SFW. Us hunters wouldn't need to be voted in on a board to represent hunters and give our oppinions to the DWR. Take care of business and the finances will take care of themselves. The DWR are...
