I think the winter of 82 was the big year when the Mud Lake media attention went national and international. A friend worked at the INEL, and one night on the way to work for night shift, he sat up front by the bus driver and counted the rabbits the bus hit. Well over 300 in about 55 miles.

That turned out great! Worth waiting for.

Dangling Rope is a great place, up above the marina on the park service lawn!

This is the 3rd year. Prior years include sheep from the Newfoundland unit as well. Cougar predation on Oak Creek has been a issue this last year.

This last week 50 sheep from Anteleope Island were moved to the Oak Creek unit. It looks like the California bighorn units continue to do well.

Any other good sources for used optics?

treed, it really is a beautiful ram, my son is a poor college student and was going to sell the cape and get a European mount, but the ram was too pretty not to do a shoulder mount.

My son got his sheep and it ended well. Wonderful experience. Huntin' Fool described this unit as a "fun easy' hunt. It was a tough hunt for us and for the hunter last year, but it all came together in the end and it was a lot of fun. After his wife and I spotted the ram, we guided him 2 miles...

Great hunt, was there on late hunt last year. Plan on doing some hiking in incredible country or ... use horses. We had friends who brought theirs, lots of fun. PM sent.

My son moved to Idaho and this year, his first, in the draw he drew unit 55, a California Bighorn unit! It has only had sheep for a few years. I've hunted sheep a couple of times, looking forward to going on this this hunt. Season is Aug 30 to Oct 8th, seems kind of early. Before the rut...

I lived in Idaho, almost 30 years ago. My son moved up there and on his first draw he got a sheep tag. Waahooo! Jim Sage area. Looking forward to go with him and hunt Idaho again. I've hunted sheep a couple of time, but don't know a lot about the unit. Any advice would be welcome. TIA

To Raftf.....Great post. Great story-book hunt adventure. I'm glad it turned out so well. Just wish I could have been along on this one. To the board, this was a multi-year hunt with planning and preparation culminating this year in a wonderful way. You can hunt every year, just have the tag once.

I saw Norm's obituary last week and it caught me off guard. It was very sad. He was a great guy, fun to be around and great with people. He is an example of a guy who made a difference, for wildlife and for those around him.

It says, "If you do not apply for a limited-entry or once-in-a-lifietime permit or a bouns point at least once in a consecutive three year period" I'm quite sure it means you only have to put in for "any" of the three choices listed to keep all your points. Cheers
