I've had the older geovids,then the El Ranges and now am back with the now discontinued geovid HD-R's, they're a great hunting tool for sure, well worth it to me.

For those of you hunting the west this year what binoculars are you using?

Unless you had the el ranges side by side with the SV's I don't think you see a difference. I have the SV's and love them, and at one time also had the EL ranges, they are a fantastic tool. Weird thing was for me, because of being right eye dominant I had problems seeing the yardage read out...

right now there is a demo swarovski 65mm on gunsinternational.com for $1499 I'd buy that and consider myself very happy.

I have the exo 3500 and have been very happy with it. Used it this fall to pack 2 elk off the mountain and it did quite well. The pocket layout fits my style of hunting better than the kuiu and kifaru I had in the past.

So when on your western hunts what bino are you using and why?

On all 4 of my sako 75s I use the optilock lows and have been very happy with them.

I've had great luck with the 140 accubond out of my sako .270, federal factory loads.They shoot good groups and so far with them I've shot 4 antelope , 1 mulie and several whitetails. Ranges from 60-251 yards.Works for me.

Lets say you're hunting antelope, mulies and/or elk.You can get a .308 that weighs 6.25lbs all up or a 30'06 that around 8 lbs. all up.With both carrying and shootablity in mind, what would you pick and why. They would both be ss/syn.

I would go with a tikka t-3 7 mag or 270 with a leupold 3x9 on top.If you want to spend more, than get a sako.

Yes I have bought 3 in the last 2 years: a ss/syn 7mm-08 for the kids, .270 hunter and a 7 mag ss/syn for me. Short of spending over a grand, these are by far the best rifles out there.Have you put a new recoil pad on your 300wsm?

tikka for sure. The savage is a good cheap gun. The tikka is an incredible value. Fit and finish is way past the savage, awesome trigger, smoothest bolt I've tried, low bolt lift and so accurate. I have bought 3 of them. I would hold the tikka to any other production gun out there, go tikka...

Looking for anybody that has used this bullet. I am planning on them in my 7 mag(139 grain) for a upcoming pronghorn/mulie hunt.

i will be hunting in extreme n.e. Mn. which is big woods with lots of lakes and streams. Natural food ares hazelnut, berries and what ever animals the bear might come by from moose to mice.

I went with the leica geovid 10x42 bino's, very happy with them, since the rangefinder is built in it's one less thing to carry.
