    Spring Turtle hunt

Eel "Big Tortuga" grass, Huge congrats on a well deserved trophy, Eel. If memory serves me correct, that terrapin completed your quest for the North American Turtle Slam. That would make you the first to ever accomplish the turtle slam. And to think that you did it on a lumberjacks salary...

Peep Sight - Magnified or how to correct Blurred Pins

Look into a verifier from Specialty Archery Products. The peep housing is threaded and you can screw in whatever strength lens works for you. 4 is the weakest...9 is the strongest. Find a shop that has the verifier display to see what strength you need.

    Corned Beef

NVB-the term "corned" is an old reference to salt. The reason that corned beef retains the red color is from the addition of nitrite. The flavor comes from a variety of spices which the blend is sometimes refered to as pickling spice. (Bay leaf, peppercorns, allspice berries, juniper...

Turned out great! Always fun to get new equipment...then tuning and tweaking it to get the best performance. What I want to know is what kind of product you used to get that osb to turn out like polished granite? Lol Good luck with the new toy.

    Archery.....Owens Tule Elk

Video Dude- Beautiful bull! Congratulations. Sounds like you had a great hunt. That had to be nerve racking to make that stalk and then have to watch as they moved away...and then to finally get the opportunity to drill him at 60. Good job on keeping your nerve...well done and welcome to MM!

    Different arrow different results ?'s

Lots of good insight so far. Yoke tuning hasn't been brought up yet so here is what I do to fine tune my arrow flight. I will assume that you have factored in everything previously mentioned and your bow is timed and in sync and your center shot is on. When you come to full draw, the limbs...

    Quiver Question?

If you don't want one attached to your bow then you might also look into a side quiver. They are quiet, conceal the fletching, and can be worn over your shoulder, strapped to your pack, or hung in a tree. It is like having an arrow dispenser. I carry a half dozen hunting but for stump shooting...

    Favorite Mule Deer Print

Leon Parson is an amazing artist. He has a fun habit of hiding things in his pictures. I have a couple of prints where I have found things and I am sure I have missed other things that are there. In "The Veteran" which features a big whitetail bedded down in the autumn colors. Next to him is...

    HOOK RELEASE VS TRADITIONAL RELEASE

Hey YD, when I first saw the title I thought that maybe you were talking downriggers and this should have been in the trout forum. Sounds like you went and did it. I prefer the hook style for my style of hunting. It is simple, easy to hook and unhook, and I get long life out of my d-loop. I...

    Hardening knife blades

RELH is right on. L6 will rust but over time the blade will take on a nice patina if you take care of them. There is a wide range of acceptable additions of alloying elements for L6 depending on who made it. If it is on the higher side in manganese and has additions of moly, it will air...

    Good bb gun for hunting

The pre-charge pneumatics are out of your indicated price range. They can be filled using a hand pump or by using a k-valve adaptor and a scuba tank. They can be stored under pressure for extended periods of time. The amount of bleed off (if any)is dependant on the quality of your mechanism...

    New Rest

You are right in that they are all great choices. I only have experience with the QAD HDX from your list. No complaints. 100% reliable for me. I use the supplied taller TL1 launcher to maximize fletching clearance. The rest is very quiet. I like being able to let down without shooting and...

    Eelgrass' Secret Hunting Spot

    Packing your cape out.

Sounds like you are shooting them too far away. Get closer and shoot them in the neck. Between the muzzle blast and the powder burns, your cape should be tick-free. You could aslo try throwing them in the bed of your pickup next time. It is a whole lot easier to wash out your bed then it is...
