    Lost muzzleloader

I was hunting in the LaSal Mountains near Moab Sept. 27 and lost a CVA muzzleloader off the tailgate of my truck near Hidden Lake. If anyone happened to pick it up, I'd love to have it back. I can provide an exact description.

Not sure what you would consider a monster if that isn't it. It would certainly be a monster by my standards.

As long as there is no gate and you remain in your vehicle as you drive across the private land, there should not be an issue.

    knee replacement

I did mine in 2012 after an elk hunt where I simply could not move well enough to chase the elk. The new knee is great. I can do a lot more hiking now and the knee is not an issue. It is not a fun surgery, though.

    Wy Antelope Help

There are not many units that are easy to draw anymore if they have accessible public land. There are some units around Casper that you can draw about every other year that have decent access. Some areas (like 25) appear to have good amounts of public land but much of it is inaccessible...

    Shipping meat?

I get Styrofoam shipping containers from the doctor whose office is next to mine. They receive shipments of frozen medication and just throw the containers away. They keep stuff frozen for three or four days if unopened.

    Fun trophy antelope

I'd vote for Casper. Good hunting in the area, nice hotels and some decent restaurants. I don't do the drinking thing, but there seem to be plenty of bars as well.

    Wasatch Elk and Burritos 2012

I hope that last comment didn't come across as negative. I wasn't trying to be critical. I'm just trying to improve my own longer-range shooting and have been doing lots of research. Beautiful animal, by the way.

    Wasatch Elk and Burritos 2012

FYI, incline or decline both have the same effect on bullet trajectory. To compensate for a steep uphill or downhill shot, you actually hold for a shorter distance. Here is a good way to understand it: Imagine that an elk is 400 yards away from you but the angle is very steep. In fact, if the...

    Job Ideas?

I had a co-worker who grew up in a rural area of Idaho. So I was a little surprised that he didn't hunt. When I asked him why, since everyone there hunts, he explained that his dad was the town butcher. During hunting season, he was always busy helping his dad process game.

Im looking to buy a west vernon deer tag help thanks.

I assume you must be planning on an archery hunt, because with a rifle or muzzleloader he is still probably several years away from being assured of drawing the tag. Seven points for either resident or non-resident has about 6 percent drawing odds.

    how much do antelope shrink?

I found the citation. This comes straight from the B&C site: "The B&C minimums are 80- and 82-inches for the Awards and All-time record books. Of all species, pronghorn shrink the most, so it is always best to have them officially scored right after the 60-day drying period."

    how much do antelope shrink?

I have six pronghorn trophies in my office. The one I shot this year was the second largest when I brought it home. Now it is tied for the smallest. It shrunk much more than any others I have previously killed. I read something recently from a B&C scorer who advised having antelope measured as...

Oak Creek is an easier draw because of low numbers of elk and private land issues.

    roadkill recovery

It is funny how perspectives change with time. When I was a teen, no one really cared about antlers. We would go to the town dump after the deer season and cut antlers off discarded deer heads so we could use them for craft projects. Most were two and three points, but there was an occasional...

    Max Antelope Points

I can see three sets of antelope horns from where I sit in my office. Two were mid 70s bucks and one was over 80. It is tough to tell much difference even from a few feet away. From 500 or 600 yards, it gets really tough. I used to worry about hunting in the better units and as a result, I...

    Burning Moose Points

Not to make you feel bad, but looking at last year's bonus point statistics shows about 10,000 people ahead of you in the points race. This year there were 81 moose permits issued. I'm not real good at math, but I suspect many of those people will be dead before they every draw a permit. So that...

    unit 27 vs. 72 pronghorn

We've hunted 72 the past two seasons. We've killed nice bucks both years, but this season was much tougher and we did not see many really good bucks. We'll be heading to a different spot next year.

    Two skunked noobs

Put in for some late season anterless tags and hunt some cows. The general any bull season is kind of a zoo. Success rates are low for a reason. The late season cow hunts will give you a chance to see some elk under less pressure conditions and you won't have to fight a big crowd.
