    Lookin..

...for a DIY Mule deer hunt for an old guy (me) with some mobility limitations (bad hip ). I have 9 preference points. Good access, moderate terrain and the opportunity for a 140 -150 inch buck are the biggest criteria. I've looked pretty closely at unit 10, 81 and the lower BLM regions of...

    Southern Wyoming snow

I'm looking at applying for a southern Wyoming Antelope unit. Last weeks big storm has me a little worried about the conditions and potential winterkill for them. However, I looked at the I-80 Webcams from Cheyenne to Rawlins this morning and it appears there's plenty of open ground with no snow...

    Antelope unit 50 help ??

Tis the season....I'm thinking of the Unit 50 Muzzy hunt. I have the points to draw it. I've studied OnX, talked to the Bio, looked at the walk - in areas and the checkerboard private, etc... but I'm looking for some boots on the ground insight and overall opinions of the hunt. I'd sure...

    One hunt, one Animal...

If money was no object and you could hunt one species anywhere you wanted what would it be ? Mine was Alaska Brown bear but I got that done a couple of years ago. Now it would either be Mule Deer on the Jicarilla or Alaska / Yukon Moose. Hmmm... I'll go with the A/Y Moose.

    AZ Archery bull

Not the biggest I saw by any means but he looked just fine on day 12. Really a slow start to the rut - hot and dry - but it picked up nicely the last 4 or 5 days. no mid - day action but we had 'em going every morning and evening. We ended up going 3 for 4 on nice 270 -300 inch type bulls. It...

    COVID and our fall hunts...

Obviously there are far more important things to be concerned with now but hunting (and thinking about hunting and planning for hunting , etc, etc...) is a major distraction and stress reliever for most of us. So, what do you think the odds are that this will have an effect on our fall hunts ...

So, what Elk unit did you apply for...?

After all the discussion on where to apply, one unit vs another, preference points, etc, etc... its interesting to hear what you guys decided to do. Its a loooong time between hunts for us NR so sometimes guys are more likely to share. I'm in for 4B early archery with 12 PP. GOOD LUCK. Chip

I've been trying to search the Arizona forum for 4B Elk. I keep getting "The following words were not included in your search because they are too short, too long, or too common: 4B, Elk" It just shows hundreds of threads from numerous forums. I've tried to shorten it -just 4B, Unit 4B, to...

I posted this on the Elk forum but I wanted to say thanks to my Wyoming buddies in particular. I've had a great 30 year run out there - due in part to the help I've received on here. Not sure how much longer I'll be able to "climb the hill" but I know I'm not quite done yet. I was fortunate...

    AZ Deer 17 points

I realize I'm kind of in no man's land. I might have a shot at one of the 12's but the new 20% pass deal hurt me.Based upon the 2016 report it looks like it took 19 points to guarantee a tag in any of the 12's. Odds drop fast after that. With point creep it could be 10 years or more before I...

    Wagonhound Ranch

I just watched Bill and Tyler Jordan bow hunt the Wagonhound. Quite frankly I was surprised at the size - or lack thereof - of the bulls. I'm pretty sure they took the Jordans to the honey holes with the knowledge that they'd be on TV. Of the dozens of bulls they showed there was one 7 point...

Hoping for help on Elk unit 35

    This Winter !!

I'm no expert but based upon what I saw in several areas of wyoming last week if there is any kind of nasty winter it will be devastating to the deer and antelope. While there was decent feed up high, on the winter range there is none. I mean none. The sage has no green shoots at all and the...
