    Advice re accuracy

The action was fitted with a new carbon wrapped shilen and placed in a custom stock. It is free floated the entire barell/stock length. I have shot federal premium and nosler custom rounds, in addition to 3 others. I did contact Christensen via email and received an immediate reply (first by...

    Advice re accuracy

A few years ago I sent an action to Christensen Arms and had a 300rum built with a lightweight barrel and stock. I do not hand load and I have tried 4-5 different factory loads and can't get 100yard groups under 3".I've shot it with and without the brake and I've switched out the mounts and...

    Right Arrow For Me

At that length the Easton acc 3/49 will weigh in around 290 grains 3/60 should be 330 gr. fletched with insert. They are target worthy arrows but beware they will be more susceptible to dings or a memory than all carbon due to their aluminum core. Check the Easton site for the right shaft for...

    Paunsaugunt archery

Wherever you decide to concentrate your scouting and hunting, keep in mind that what you see scouting and what you see opening week will probably be quite a bit different. Opening week up there will be a donkey parade (assuming your hunting public land) and the deer that were everywhere before...

    B&C vs. SCI

As an OM for B&C and P&Y I would agree with d13r's posts. For me personally it boils down to the concept of fair chase. I don't mean to take away from animals recorded by SCI, but free-roaming animals that resulted from natural life cycles compared against animals bred and raised in...

    Non-Res Odds in AZ-criminal !

As a non-resident I think "criminal" is too strong of a description. But both the costs and odds are getting more & more out of hand. For example, I applied for elk and antelope for myself and my son. I spent $210.50 for the application process just to be included in the pool. We're...

AZ 18B Junior Deer Hunt Advice?

My son drew a tag for the junior deer hunt in 18B which starts this weekend. This will be his first deer hunt and we're not holding out for a big deer just a nice fork. I've read up on the unite from G&F info and I'm looking for any suggestions on general areas that might hold higher densities...

    Honda Foreman Rubicon

I have a Rubicon and I take most of its features for granted, it's a great quad. One thing that cannot be overlooked is its poor mileage. I'm not sure what the mileage of a rancher is by comparison but I have sworn that my next quad will be a rancher or a rincon (which allows you to disengage...

    2006 CA Blacktail Hybrid (non-typical)

Roy, congratulations on the buck. I'm sure the enjoyment of the hunt had as much to do with your son's presence. On a light note, it's a good thing the buck wasn't at 25 yards or your son would spend the rest of his days hunting for bucks that would most likely be smaller than his first. Dan

    Glassing Tripods ?

If weight is not a factor I don't think you can beat a bogen. Otherwise the Outdoorsmans tripod, but remember there are trade-offs and with the lighter tripod it is not as stable in windy conditions when fully extended. Having said that, I don't leave home without my Outdoorsmans original tripod.

    Ted Riggs Tree in Kiabab

Ted Riggs was Old School! I stopped in Mesquite on my way to an archery deer hunt on the Kaibab in the early 90's. On a whim my hunting partner and I looked up Mr. Riggs' phone number and called him out of the blue and asked if we could stop in just to visit. We had seen the mounts at Ben...

    Oryx hunt in Nov.

Some people would consider this a bit light for an Oryx. I personally took one last year on the Rhodes Cyn. hunt with a 30-06 & 150gr. Sierra Gamekings. My shot was short distance (crawled to about 50 yds.) and shot it directly through the front shoulder. Beware that African game are TOUGH...

    Target Panic!!!

try a true back tension release. When I say true back tension, In mean a "Triggerless" Back tension release- stay away from the back tension thumb trigger releases. I use a Colby 2 by Carter. The release will improve your focus on the spot and relieve your desire to punch the trigger or hold...

How much hunting is to much?

Hunt! 3 months of school isn't going to mean ##### 10 years down the road, but your body's ability and the demands of a regular workload will only limit your opportunities as you grow older. I am fortunate becuase I am able to hunt quite a bit, but nothing like I did while I was in college-...

    Need a new daypack..help!

Ive tried both the 2200 and the CH pack. Both are made very well and can handle your request for size. I have opted for the 2200 because of it's vertical length. I am 6'3" and the CH pack seemed that I really couldn't let it rest on my hips without the pack being too far down my back to be...
