Folgers makes a good tea bag style coffee that if you use 2 bags, makes a nice cup of backcountry joe.

    Unit 45 muzzleloader

Yes very very fortunate and blessed this year. Drew 13b deer in az, 45 deer in idaho, and best of all getting married to the girl of my dreams in less than a month. Now just to figure out how to juggle it all together. I'm going to try and make a scouting trip to 45 this weekend, still haven't...

    13B draw!

Just found out I drew a 13b rifle tag! I have been dreaming about this tag for years, I'm so excited it's about to happen. I grew up here in Arizona, bullhead city, just moved last year to idaho though. I have assisted my brother on a guided hunt in 13b close to 15 years ago, he did not get...

    NEW RIFLE FOR ELK

My vote goes for 300 weatherby mag, you can have wally world order you a vanguard series, which is a howa 1500, excellent rifle, for around $400. 300 weatherby started the ultra mags,(unless you put 300 H&H in this category) and is still an excellent choice. Other choices listed here are...

So whats the new news with unit 10 and all the talk about the Boquillas ranch closure/new rules. I heard they were changing things this year, but haven't heard for sure those changes are finalized or when they are supposed to be. I finally after years of applying as a resident got drawn...

    Coues unit 33

Thank you ed for the starting point, I will start looking there. Anyone has opinions on other areas, or whether to look at tops of mountains, bottoms of canyons, is there any rut activity this type of year (end of nov/early dec)? Anything helps.

    Coues unit 33

I know I'm probably unlikely to get any secret honey holes or special free advice, but thats not really what I'm looking for. Just somewhere to start, I'm not afraid of putting my time in to get to know an area, do lots of hiking, actually I prefer it that way, farther away from other hunters...

I'll be going up this weekend to scout couple more days for the Muzzy Elk season that starts Weds, just wondering if anyone had any success or tips on how the hunt went that just finished a archery or rifle hunt. I've scouted a total of 10 days so far, have a couple of places in mind, but still...

Knight muzzy bullet ? for UT hunting

x2 on the barnes bullets. They are ALL I use, terrific bullets super accurate. I use the 250 gr Barnes TMZ and the 290 gr TMZ. My opinion is to skip Powerbelts and go straight to these in states where you can.

    Who drew Utah LE Elk?

I drew Beaver Muzzy bull hunt with 3 NR points. Last year San Rafeal North archery antelope with 2 NR points. I can't believe it took 4 years to get the elk tag I got, the wait was killing me! JK :) Can't wait till September!

    What scope for a muzzleloader?

RE: What scope for a muzzleloader? I have the Nikon Omega muzzy scope on my Thompson Triumph, awesome scope, you have to shoot at different ranges to see where the bullets acutally land on the multiple circles the scope has, but once you work a load you like, find which circle to hold, you...

    Savage or Pro hunter

Fist, I've got a Thompson Triumph and love it, killed many deer and antelope with it, out to 300 yards. Excellent, light, accurate, dependable. But I considered trading for Pro-hunter for ability of different calibers, but they are pricey. Also though of trading for savage, as it seems to be...

    open sights vs 1x scope?

I'm still in shock that I drew, I pretty much thought I was just putting in for another bonus point, as I only had 2 points going into draw. UT bullet/powder options

If your fine with 250 gr bullets, try the Barnes TSX. I've been shooting this with 90 gr 777 for years, in az we can use powered magnification, so 300 yards clean kills is a real possibility, in fact I killed a antelope dead in his tracks at 300. at 250 yards, a more repeatable range for me, I...

    Muzzy Range

I've been shooting the 250 gr Barnes TSX with 90 gr 777 powder for years with much success on mule deer and antelope (even killed a antelope at 300 yards, dropped dead in tracks). I like the all copper barnes, what do you think about 275 gr barnes tsx on elk, going to Utah, so open sites should...

    open sights vs 1x scope?

Great discussion, just found out I drew the Beaver Muzzy tag (the ONE and ONLY NR tag) and have to remove my 3-9 omega scope :( and am contemplating the same, only for me, haven't shot open sights on big game in quite a while. May go for 1x scope, if I don't see difference I can always put the...
