    near Challlis Id

There is a place where I absolutely loved to hunt. It was only 3 miles off a main road and the horse hunters would push the elk out of the deep country on the other side of the ridge. There were always big bulls in there.... Until someone started videoing their hunts in there. After a few...

    Bulls on the hoof

Wish I could help with that unit. I know last year I struggled on judging bulls over 370. I was constantly under scoring them by 10". Have fun with it. My NV elk hunt was the best elk hunt I was ever on.

    near Challlis Id

That unit does seem to draw a lot of attention from out of state. Most guys that go in there are not ready for the terrain or weather. A bugle seems to be the best way to find the other hunters ;)

    Idaho trail riding

I second the crf230. Especially the electric start! Just peppy enough to keep you smiling, but controllable enough to ride with a $2k rifle and spotting scope on your back. Little tip overs while hunting can get expensive!

I think it helps. Especially when you're excited. It doesn't breath very well when hiking though.

    111-115 archery elk

Its been a lot of fun scouting a new area! Elk everywhere. Just a matter of time until we find one big enough. Got 2 weeks off work, good glass, and boots that are well trained. Really thinking this is gunna be a fun hunt! Just got the camera adapter working correctly on the spotting scope...

    111-115 archery elk

Only a few days until the hunt opens. Been on several scouting trips and always seem to find elk. I've actually found so many its hard to know which ones to go after first. Does anybody know how the hunting pressure will be? Think I should avoid the obvious attractions like the high country...

    Carrying while archery hunting

True not many deaths by Mt Lions. However I was followed/stalked by a cat for over a mile all the way to camp. When yelling and throwing rocks doesn't intimidate them you really wish the pistol was not in the truck. Not much sleep that night, or any night on that trip... Now I take the pistol in...

    Reno area

There are quite a few people that I have seen out wondering the hills, but there are still plenty of sheds to be found. The foothills on the west end of the valley have a lot of trafic right now, but the areas north of town seem to have less people actually out walking around.

the differences between good and bad bow hunters

Good and bad are tough labels. I thought I was a great bow hunter 15 years ago, and every year I get humbled or learn something new, So now after bow hunting for 17 years I know I'm not all that great, but feel confident in my abilities. I know my limits and I do NOT need a range finder. For...

I'm not going to chastize you. But I do have a request or two. Would you please post a picture of your rig(black out the plate) and a picture of your self. I just want to make sure I know when to get off the mountain. I promise that if I see your rig at the trail head I will go somewhere...

    Archery in the Rubies

Finding bucks is not the hard part of archery hunting the Rubies. Getting an arrow in a buck is a whole other story. I had a blast last year and drew the tag agian, so I'll be up there playing cat and mouse.

    Idaho late season 36A?

No, its a easy hunt. Guys can just take a 100 yard strole and shoot 210 bucks every day. I saw a group of bucks last time up that looked like elk they were so big. Oh yeah, I almost forgot that there is also gold in every creek, so bring a dredge and shovel. You'll leave with a huge buck and 5k...

Top 3 Deer Hunts/Units in Idaho?

    1) 39 2) 32 3) 43 These must be the best units. Its where all the people go hunting. You can find decent bucks and get a months worth of entertainment watching all the people. It can be fun to sit on top of a peak and watch the stream of head lights coming up the mountain 20 mins before light.

    Idaho late season 36A?

The area used to have a few bucks 25 years ago, but not so great any more. I dont even deer hunt the area any more its so sad. I still enjoy spending time climbing to the peaks, so I go in September just to get a few good hikes in. Once the high country is in your blood its hard to not go back...

    Use ATV's illegally.........Lose Your ATV!

I have to say one or two trips are not an issue. BUT in areas near big cities is seems like if there are already ATV tracks, then it is open game for the rest of the world to follow. I dont agree with going off trail just to retrieve game. I used to be an advocate for this, but have seen it...

    2012 Antler/Horn Growth....Any thoughts?

The deer around Reno seem to have made it through winter healthy, and the grass is already coming up. I think if we get a little moisture all through the spring and early summer we will see some GREAT antler growth.

    living in Idaho??????????

I was always horible with time management, but when I was wanting to sell somebody on the treasure valley I would tell them that Everything they could ever want was with in 1 hour. Winter fishing around Reno

Anybody willing to share some ideas for winter fishing around Reno. I've tried the river and had hit and miss success. To be honest it think the times I've caught fish its been all luck. I love to catch fish on a dry fly but am not against drowning a worm. I'm also looking for a place that I...

I moved to Reno last year and have found lots of hunting opporunities. I've had more fun than should be allowed bow hunting. Looks like you...

    Spot and Stalk Observation

I would say you need to work on your stabilizer muscles. Might try a yoga workout, or try balancing on curbs/rocks. While balancing on one foot bend over and touch the ground, try doing this by bending your knee and not bending your knee. You might find that these muscles don't get worked at...

    Landowner Tresspassing Arguments
