I have hunted cranes a lot. Never there though. They are the toughest bird of all to affectively decoy. It is a blast when it works though! It is like shooting a pterodactyl out of the sky. They are great to eat as well.

Dang it man! Great job! you guys have definitely made a hand this season! I can only imagine the amount of meat you guys have acumulated this season. One elk is proving to be a load for me.

That used to be correct. With the season pushed back so far in Oct., that isn't so much the case now.

Correct, except that it isn't good in archery season. I am looking for specifically for an archery tag.

I did not draw a tag. I am looking for access and permission to private land to buy a private land tag.

JRABQ, I don't know where you are driving from in NM (I am guesing Albq), but Oklahoma would probably be closer. Western Oklahoma can make for some good hunting at a much lower price for the tag anyways.

The cabelas app works like a charm as long as you turn on the Public land layers. It is as good as any color quad that you will find. You can also cache maps so you can use them with the phones gps if you don't have service to pull the maps in. It's legit. I have used it to help find water...

Primos puts out a pretty good low end camera. The truth 35 IR. I have a few of them and have been very pleased thus far. Great pictures as well.

Yes, this Oklahoma guy was not pleased with the way it all unfolded.

It really just depends. There are places that you will see exactly what you are referring to in AZ and there are a few tucked away Hidey-holes that are not getting hammered. I personally would not make a game plan that hinged on hunting water because you just never know from year to year.

I am with those that have stated above. SB196 did not change any odds in a substantial manner. I drew this season as a NR. I only applied for deer this season. This was my third season in a row to draw a deer tag. First time to ever draw my third choice.
