    Kimber 8400 270 WSM

I now use a Kimber Montana 270 WSM, and love it. It will shoot better than I am capable of. I also have a Kimber 8400 in 300WSM. Again, this gun will shoot better than my capabilities. I have taken mutiple mulies at long range with both, shooting accubonds, 140 & 180 respectively. I have not...

    kenetrek

I bought my Kenetrek Mountain boots two years ago. I absolutely love them. I got mine 1/2 size larger, just so I had a little extra room for 2 pr socks. Beat all the Danners I've had in the past hands down.

    Leupold Scope Covers.......

kilowatt- WOW! Thanks for asking the question. I will now have to purchase another pair and do it also. This set up is much better than the Butler Creek one. I would not have figured it out on my own. Thanks again!

    Leupold Scope Covers.......

kilowatt- Yes, I did buy a set this fall. Your scope needs to have the threads inside the objective. My intent was to install them only during incliment weather. I got the rear one screwed to the scope, no problem, I really liked how well it popped open. Then came the heart breaker for me. The...

Kimber 8400 WSW SST/SYN opinions please.

I just got back from my annual mule deer hunt. I use a Kimber 8400 Montana in 270 WSM. I love it. It is acurrate, light, and a pleasure to shoot. I ended up with a "meat" buck on the last day. I also have a Kimber 84 Classic in 300 WSM. I like it alot also. I interchange the two guns depending...

blaze orange backpack...anyone know where I can find one?

Have you looked at the Badlands website? They are showing what they call an upland bird vest that looks very much like a "small" day pack.

    270 WSM

I have a 270 WSM and a 300 WSM. Both mine are Kimbers, both topped with Leupold VXIII 3.5-10. I would not trade either one. The 270 likes Federal Premium 140gr Accubonds really well. That round did a fantastic job for me last fall. Enjoy your new toy!

    Kimber Montana 270 WSM...What Cartridge???

I have the same "tool" topped with a Leupold VX-III. Mine really likes Federal Premium 140 gr Accubonds. By the way, this load does a REALLY nice job on Mule Deer bucks. Enjoy your new "tool".

    Backpack - Day use

I use the Eberlestock "Gunslinger". It is more than large enough for all my wants. Has the hydration bladder, and the best thing is the gun scabbord which I find extremely handy while hiking in the dark and any other time I don't want to worry about my rifle falling off my shoulder.

    I need a new scope

I personally really like the Leupold VX series. My last 3 scopes have been VXIII's in 3.5-10. I have no experience with others since I have been so happy with my Leupold's. Have fun choosing!

    Kimber 8400 300WSM

I purchased the same gun about 4 years ago. I just make sure to clean it and oil it real well. I like to wipe my guns down with oil after each days use, it only takes a few minutes. A great choice!

    Eberlestock J107

Have you looked at the "Gunslinger" from Eberlestock? It sounds like it could be what you are looking for. It is smaller and lighter than the J107. I have used one for 3 years now and really like it alot.

    federal ammo .270WSM

I too am the new owner of a 270WSM. I am trying the Federal 140 grain Accubonds. I have had tremendous success with Accubonds in my 300WSM. The 140's shoot very well in my gun.

    bullet choice mule deer

I also shoot 270wsm & 300wsm. I used to shoot partitions in m 7mm RM,switched to accubonds in both wsm guns. 140gr in the 270wsm, 180gr in the 300wsm. Both Kimbers shoot 1/2 groups all day long with Federal Premium loads. I have not harvested an animal yet with the 270wsm. The 300wsm w/180gr...

Just one big game caliber excluding big bear?

I have a Kimber 8400, in 300 wsm. This gun is blue steel. It is light, but the recoil does not seem that bad to me. When I first got it I thought the recoil would be uncomfortable. I think it kicks less than the Ruger 7 mag I gave to my nephew. The Decelorator pad works well in my opinion. I...

    300 wsm loads

I do not have the opportunity to hunt antelope, but I also love my 300 WSM. Between myself and my nephews, we have taken 4 mule deer with this gun in the last two years. I have only used Federal 180gr Accubonds with great success and have retrieved 2 of the spent bullets. Great retention, all...

    270 WSM Setup

I just purchased a Kimber Montana in 270 wsm. Can't wait to take it to the range when the weather warms up. I had such good luck with my Kimber Classic 300 wsm, I had to get another. Not sure what the Brownings weigh, the Kimber Montana comes in at 6lbs 2 oz w/o scope.

    Deer Carts

For the first time this year we used a cart. What an advantage! Last winter I ordered a cart from EZ-Load game carts. Kind of spendy, but it switches from two wheels to one wheel in just a matter of minutes so you can adjust to your terrain. The owners name is Al, sorry I have forgotten his last...

Beezley is a lot of open country like you pointed out with lots of private property. The public areas get pushed hard. Access to the private land can get expensive. I know one landowner collecting 5-10K for access. Good Luck!

.300 WSM vs. .300 REMINGTON ULTRA MAGS?

I choose to shoot the 300WSM because of lighter weight rifles available. I try to eliminate every ounce of weight possible from rifle, pack, etc. The 300WSM is plenty adequate for mule deer. Sorry I have no pesonal experience with the 300RUM.

    backpacks that carry rifles

I would also suggest the Eberlestock Gunslinger. I got one last year and loved it. My rifle was held very securely, had no worries about the gun coming out. Manufacturer suggests not loading the chamber while carrying in the pack, I would agree. Extremely comfortable, I also enjoyed the water...

    300wsm or 325wsm for elk

The Kimbers don't come cheap. I found a bargain on the classic for $850. I was originally looking at the Montana in 270wsm, list price at approx $1100. When I found the 300wsm at the mismarked price I jumped all over it. As I said before, I am extremely happy with it, would not trade the caliber...

    300wsm or 325wsm for elk

Last fall I purchased a Kimber 8400 classic in 300wsm, it weighs about 6 lbs. I love it! Kimber also makes it in a "Montana" which is stainless compostite make up. This gun weighs just 5lbs 2 oz., the 300 should be quite managable for kick. The 325 obviously has more power but limited choices...

    Camelbak Care

I purchased the cleaning kit and use a little baking soda and water mix when I do a thourough cleaning. Personally don't care to taste the bleach residue. Usually just empty and rinse with warm water when it's only been a day or two.

    rifles, is lighter better

Last year I switched to a light rifle, Kimber 8400 in 300WSM. I absolutely love it! This particular rifle likes 180gr accubonds in the Federal Premium line. I have a tendency to hike long distances every day and the lighter rifle certainly has made a difference for me.

    Eberlestock Gunslinger

No, I am not a bow hunter. We hunt in the high desert of Washington and do not encounter many trees. I remove my pack many times during the day while glassing and often use it for a back rest in clumps of sagebrush. I did not encounter any problems with debris in the scabbard.

    Eberlestock Gunslinger

I used this pack last season for the first time. I really enjoyed it. My hunting is all day trips, so this worked well for me. My first time with a hydration system, liked that also. Best feature was the scabbard, came in very handy before daylight and when hauling meat out.
